Starry, Starry Night
Today's post is about Vincent. Okay just so we're clear, I don't mean the other Vincent - Van Gogh. But I couldn't reference a song in the title that talks about MY Vincent. Not like I really played FFVII, but I saw all these vids of Vincent Valentine on YouTube when Lex was going on and on about Cloud and Sepiroth and I was just...WOW! I may have called him "Vincent, my love" in my head. *squee*
Actually, my Dad was pretty great this morning. He had a late start, so we got to go out to breakfast. Just the two of us. We went to one of those breakfast places where they serve longaniza, my favorite! He actually asked me about my games. I just sort of nodded, said it was fun, and didn't tell him that I haven't played in a few days. It was really nice when he took me to GameSpot after. He remembered that I've been looking for Dirge of Cerberus for a long time now. That's probably why I'm full on in my Vincent mode. I found my game!!! It's old school and I have to dig up Bucket's old console for it, but I'm really just playing it for the cut scenes. All Vincent, all day! YES!
When I got home I binged on YouTube fan vids like this one. I found another one with good resolution, so I decided to work from a still frame. Yes, I'm going into major fangirl overdrive and I'm going to draw Vincent (my love).
I already started:
This is a totally new style for me, trying to figure out the planes of the face. I've adjusted my stylus pressure on Corel Painter and now it's responding pretty much like a pencil. How sick is that?
Oh yeah, and a doodle that I did in the Medibang app. Kinda wanted to do something more like an illustration and kinda loose. And, woot! I think I'm getting better at this layers shit! I know where to find things I want to erase now. Medibang has a weird UI though. I'm not sure if I can find a setting for this, but it's painful how the windows wouldn't close when you tap away. You actually have to tap on the icon again to close them. That slowed me down.
One last thing, I'm posting another ArtRage rough that I did while waiting for my mom at the store parking lot. The clouds were from life. That's when I realized that the iPad is glare city when you use it outside.
Noodle doodlez that needs a little more opaque clouds next time.
